My story

Meet Smokey, a 1-year-old bundle of joy who`s always ready to brighten your day with his wagging tail and wiggly butt! This happy boy lives for his daily walks and greets volunteers with the kind of enthusiasm that makes your heart melt. Smokey walks well on a leash, loves to play with toys, and is already showing off how smart he is—he knows `sit` and is eager to learn even more (especially if treats are involved!). Whether he’s out exploring or showing off his silly side during playtime, Smokey’s joyful spirit shines through. He’s ready to trade in shelter life for a forever home full of love, fun, and adventure. If you’re looking for a playful, sweet companion who will be your sidekick through it all, Smokey can’t wait to meet you!Smokey would love to meet any potential canine siblings! Our staff will carefully handle all dog-to-dog introductions at the shelter to ensure a great match. Feel free to bring your pup along when you come to meet him!Smokey was able to go on a Dog Day Out recently and here is what they had to say, `Yesterday, I had the absolute pleasure of taking Smokey out for an afternoon adventure. I couldn’t help but feel it was meant to be. My own dog at home is also named Smoky, and funnily enough, they’re pretty similar in personality! From the moment we hit the trail, Smokey impressed me. He walked beautifully on the leash with no pulling, except for a moment or two when a lizard (and a SQUIRREL!) crossed our path. He was curious but still so well-mannered. Honestly, I was surprised by how calmly and confidently he led the way. What a gentle hiking buddy! After our walk, we took a water break. It was a warm afternoon, and that’s when I discovered Smokey’s true passion: fetch. As soon as he saw the tennis ball, his whole energy shifted. He lit up with excitement and became a fetch machine! He eagerly chased the ball and brought it right back every time, ready for another round. I had to convince him to take a break! Once he had burned off some energy, we relaxed under a shady tree where he melted into cuddle mode. He leaned in for pets and was so content just being close. If you’re looking for a fun, loving, and playful companion, Smokey is your guy. He’s goofy, sweet, and full of joy. Giving him a forever home would be such a gift. You won’t regret it!`Smokey is neutered, microchipped, up to date on his vaccinations, and ready for his forever home!
