0828 Maverick

My story

Maverick is fostered in West Plains, Missouri You can't help but fall in love with Maverick.  Maverick is a red merle male Australian Shepherd.  He is estimated to be 2 - 3 years old and weighs approximately 45 lbs.  This handsome boy showed up as a stray and was taken in by a local farmer.  He was very shy and timid, so the farmer had to earn his trust before we could get him into rescue.  Maverick is now in a foster home where he is learning all things about how to be a pampered pooch.  Maverick is VERY sweet and loving, but he is lacking some social skills.  His skilled foster is working with him on basic obedience, walking on a leash, house manners and being a typical dog.  Maverick has discovered toys and does love a good squeaky toy.  He has mastered potty training, but he is not terribly fond of the crate.  This is something his foster home is still working on to get him used to longer periods of time in the crate.   Maverick is quite shy and timid, but incredibly sweet so he needs a committed adopter who will continue socializing and exposing him to new things at his pace.  Maverick does need a physically fenced yard and would be a great addition to a home that has an exceptionally social resident dog. Maverick is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms. Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.
