My story

Note: Celeste or Nova need a new foster home. They are together but will do better separated. Once each girl has made progress with healthy weight loss, they will be posted for adoption. &#239&#187&#191&#239&#187&#191The Girls' Personalities Celeste and Nova are very sweet girls with different personalities and needs. They are together in the same loving foster home, but we think they will do best in separate foster homes. Celeste is a little shy, while Nova is bold and settles in easily. It would be ideal to move Nova since she will adapt faster than Celeste. CELESTE - Her calm demeanor will melt your heart. Celeste is a little shy, but once you start petting her she shows you just how loving she is. Celeste enjoys belly rubs and being brushed. She loves catnip and uses her sisal scratcher. This girl is also super gentle, knows her name and likes her new calorie and portion-controlled diet. NOVA - She is bold and settles into a new environment with new people easily. She acts like she doesn't have a care in the world. Nova is friendly, loves being petted, and enjoys being brushed. She loves to run up and down the stairs in her foster home which is great for her weight loss program! What Type of Foster Home is Needed Celeste will do best in her current foster home - a quiet home with experienced cat caretakers. She has made progress bonding with her foster mom so we are hoping to keep her where she is. Nova will do well in a more active foster home although a quiet home would be just fine. Older kids would be fine for Nova, but no other pets for either girl. The girls are on a strict calorie and portion-controlled over-the-counter diet. Their diet currently consists of more canned food and less dry food. We are trying to move them to a wet food only diet to facilitate a healthy weight loss. Their foster homes must be committed to sticking with a strict weight management plan and monthly weight checks. We can supply pet scales to keep them on track. Where the Girls Came From  Celeste and Nova  were adopted out as kittens to what we thought was a wonderful home. Sadly, their caretakers decided, just shy of their 8th birthdays, they didn’t want them anymore. However, based on their neglected condition, this has turned out to be a good thing even though this upheaval has been hard on Celeste. Both girls appear healthy despite being terribly overweight. Getting them to a healthy weight of about 12 lbs each will take time but will ensure better health and longer lives. They are now on a healthy calorie-controlled diet.PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Please see our adoption guidelines at  https://spcanova.org/about-us/adoption-policies/. May 25, 2025, 5:43 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Celeste or Nova - Need Foster Home, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
