Gus

My story

Gus is an adorable 8-year-old, 50-pound terrier mix. He enjoys being active, exploring and playing with dog friends in his foster home. Gus also loves to lay on the floor with you to get snuggles and wrestle. He is house and crate trained. Gus loves to play in running water, then rub his face in the grass or get towel dried. He also enjoys squeaky toys, sour patch kids, popcorn and jerky treats. Gus has been learning to live with cats and loves kittens! He has done really well, which you can see from one of his videos. He can get excited sometimes but when they stand their ground, he leaves them alone. Gus loves to go for walks but can be strong on the leash - he is improving with a gentle-leader and practice. When excited he can invade personal space with his nose and needs continuing support to learn to give new people and animals more space and time. Giving him a treat and asking him to sit helps calm him. Sometimes he can go into guard/bark mode with a toy or paper towel roll and putting him on a leash or distracting him with food gets him out of these modes. He has never tried to bite his foster but can appear fierce. He responds well to positive reinforcement and would love a family to continue his training and help him become his best self. Gus is a super cute, smart and unique boy who deserves a great home. Gus' $250 adoption fee includes a microchip, vaccinations, and neuter surgery.
