My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Look at those beautiful Pyr eyes and the electrifying smile on this girl! Ester is what we call a Pocket Pyr – a petite 70 pounds makes her pretty PYRfect for that Pyr lover who is ready to “downsize”! Ms. Ester was surrendered with a litter of puppies to the shelter, along with her sister and her litter. She may not have had a lot of love before, but she sure has learned to love all the attention she is receiving now. She is learning lots of great things such as walking on a leash, going in a crate (for a treat) but her favorite thing is meeting new people, who she greats with a friendly tail wag hoping for a treat in return! She took some time to trust, but to meet her today—she knows no strangers! She is great with all the dogs she is around, learning to play. Ester will run and chase and roll around and then do it all over again, never getting tired of having a friend around her! She is even great at grooming time; she had some bad mats clipped out and she stood patiently, not complaining one time! She appears to be housebroken and loves to drag her blanket around. Ester is very comfortable in the home, happy to lay down waiting on the next adventure. The ideal home for this small, gorgeous girl would be with an active family, a large, 5-foot fenced yard and older children and even a kitty! Another dog, or two, are a must as Ester’s motto is “the more the merrier”! This girl has a happy personality with a smile on her face and a tail that doesn’t quit. With plenty of LOVE, Ester will blossom into a wonderful companion and family member!  NGPR Pooch Profile Name: Ester in KY  Age: 2 yrs 3 mos old as of May 2025  Color: White with cream badger markings and light black ears Dew Claws: Yes, Single   Estimated Adult Weight: 70 lbs   Current Location: NGPR approved boarding in Richmond, KY  Medical: Spayed, dewormed, negative for heartworm, up-to-date on vaccinations and currently on flea, tick and heartworm preventative. Fees: Adoption fees are determined on a sliding scale depending on age, location and transport. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. Fees for dogs adopted locally start at $400 and can range up to $700 for puppies under six months. Puppies placed on spay/neuter contracts receive $100 back when the dog is spayed or neutered. Fees for senior dogs (7 or older) and foster dogs will be adjusted accordingly. More Information: Questions? The fastest way to learn more about a dog is to fill out our Adoption Application. If you call or e-mail you are reducing your chances of adopting this animal as we direct our time and energy to first serving those who apply. NYS Registered Non-Profit Rescue # RR102. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. May 26, 2025, 8:17 pm
