My story

Meet Marnie! Marnie is a 4-year-old Shiba Inu who spent the first years of her life as a breeding dog in an Amish puppy mill. Now free from that life, she’s slowly learning how to be a dog—and what it means to feel safe and loved. But she’ll need a patient and understanding family to help her along the way. Marnie is very timid and still adjusting to the world around her. She finds comfort in quiet corners and loves curling up on her bed, where she feels secure. She gets along well with other calm dogs and enjoys the outdoors, though loud noises and sudden commotion can overwhelm her. When frightened, Marnie may seek shelter under decks, sheds, or other secluded spaces if not securely contained—so a fenced-in yard is a must, and supervision is key. She doesn’t walk well on leash yet, but she’s learning. Until she’s more confident, she’ll need to be on a lead even in the yard. She is housetrained and prefers to eat her meals on her bed where she feels safest. Despite her fears, Marnie has a gentle, loving spirit. She enjoys quiet cuddles and will often drift off to sleep beside you. She’s an incredibly quiet girl who never makes a peep and brings a peaceful energy to the home. Marnie will thrive in a calm and gentle home that won’t push her too hard and will let her blossom at her own pace. With patience, consistency, and lots of love, Marnie will show you just how special she truly is. She is fostered in Augusta.
