My story

Susie Q and Ellie Mae came from a situation so devastating it was dubbed Hotel Hell. After being abandoned in a hotel room, along with four other cats, sweet Susie Q and Ellie Mae relied on the kindness of hotel workers until Kitty Kat Haven stepped in. Despite the horrible situation they were found in, we do believe that at one point these babies were very well cared for and loved. In a lot of ways, that makes the situation even more heartbreaking.Susie Q is the more open of the two. She is sweet and affectionate, but she does need time to warm up. She has a scratchy little meow that almost sounds like a frog, and she always rubs on her foster’s legs when breakfast and dinner is being prepared. While Susie Q might be timid, she has the potential to become somebody’s absolute best friend.Ellie Mae is the more reserved of the two. It is thought that she might be the mother to the other five cats found in the room. Because she is older by about a year, her trauma does seem to impact her more than Susie Q. Ellie Mae lived under her foster’s couch for the first two months and refused to come out for anything. Were it not for an occasional squeak (her version of a meow) her foster never would have even known she was there. Now, though, Ellie Mae is out almost all the time! While she does not (yet) enjoy being pet, her progress over the last few months is nothing short of remarkable. With patience, Ellie Mae could continue blossom. The more comfortable Susie Q and Ellie Mae become, the closer they seem to get. They can usually be found on the same cat tree, or curled up in a cat bed napping with each other. Because of this, we would love to see these two to stay together. They would do best in a home without dogs or small children. Both have been around other cats and, with proper introductions, have been fine with all of them.Available for adoption from Kitty Kat Haven and RescueHoover, AL 35226205-302-8883
