Caelum

My story

Caelum is a gentle young Border Collie mix who’s discovering that the world isn’t so scary when you’re surrounded by kind people and cozy places. He enjoys spending quality time lounging in the back office with our staff - resting his head in laps, curling up at our feet, and even crawling up into our laps (we don’t care that he isn’t “lap dog” size - we're happy to see him at ease enough to cuddle us!). He’s the kind of pup who makes you feel like *you’re* the special one. On walks, he checks in often with his people, often pausing to look at you as if to say, “You coming? I won’t go without you.” That sweet sense of loyalty is Caelum in a nutshell: attentive, tender, and always wanting to be close to his people. He’s a bit of a wizard with food puzzles, too! Give him an enrichment with hidden treats or peanut butter and he’ll happily focus all his attention on solving it. He’s still figuring out this big, noisy world and he’s not used to having this safe space to process all the big doggy feelings that come along with it! We’re so glad he now has this opportunity at The Alliance to learn and grow into the sweet dog he is becoming! He’s learning fast that safety and love now surrounds him. His tail is wagging more and more these days as he realizes, “Hey, I like it here. I’m safe here. We’re cozy here - together!” Caelum would thrive in a gentle home with people who find joy in seeing a dog step out of their shell as their bond grows. He’s a true companion, the kind who wants to be your dog, all day, every day. While he may worry when you’re away, it’s just because he loves his people so much and needs to work on regulating those feelings (which our dog behavior staff can gladly work with you on). With patience, a secure environment, and an enriching routine, he’s sure to make his new people feel loved and special!
