My story

ABOUT SCOOTER Meet our handsome, freckled man, Scooter! He is a 1 year old terrier mix with a larger than life personality! Scooter came to HAP when he was found as a stray, so we don't know much about his background. However, he quickly settled in at the shelter and has enjoyed making new friends. Scooter enjoys long walks with his doggy friends, chewing on hard bones, and climbing into everyone's lap. He already knows basic commands, walks well with a harness, and is crate-trained. Scooter has been a volunteer favorite in our Doggy Day Out program, check out what one volunteer had to say about him: "Scooter and I had a great day out today. We went walking through the riverfront and met a ton of people. He was a bit nervous when walking past groups of people and needed a bit of encouragement to keep going. He was a trooper though and got plenty of pets from people walking by. Finished our morning up with a pup cup and some car snuggles. Scooter did great in the car and on leash! He’s a truly unique boy and deserves a loving home!" - Lilly If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
