My story

Meet Vinny! Vinny is a teeny tiny 4-year-old, 8-pound male chihuahua who is still trying to make sense of his world. Right now, he’s very shy and standoffish — clearly confused about where his previous family went and unsure about what’s next. It’s clear he’s shut down emotionally, but we’re giving him the love, space, and patience he needs to realize that his life is going to be better from here on out.Vinny needs a calm, quiet home with adults only and people who truly understand the sensitive nature of chihuahuas. He’ll require time, encouragement, and consistency to start feeling safe and to slowly come out of his shell. Experience with shy dogs or chihuahuas would be a big plus.He’s house and crate trained and does well when let out several times a day. Vinny loves being around other dogs and will often follow them around for comfort and guidance. His first love is food and treats — hand feeding him is a great way to gently build trust. He’s even beginning to show some interest in toys.Leash walking makes him nervous for now, and loud noises (like trucks) are overwhelming, so a securely fenced yard is a must. Vinny may be small and unsure right now, but with patience and love, this little guy has the potential to become the most devoted and gentle companion.
