My story

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 3/10/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Sven was found as an injured stray and landed at a NC shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter.  Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Sven is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Sven arrived in rescue with a broken elbow. Full records will be provided to his new family. One surgery and many weeks of recovery later, Sven has been cleared for his forever home. He does not need another follow up visit or x ray with the specialist unless he regresses in his improvement.  He is cleared for leash walks of up to 1 mile up to 2 times per day. Sven is ready to go home, but leash walks only until 7/1/25 and then he can be released for free runs in a fenced in area. Sven was found as a stray so we cannot guarantee that he is 100% poodle.  Weight: 59 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Sven is a big boy and needs a fence four (4) feet tall or taller to run and play safely. Please note that Sven can ONLY BE LEASH WALKED until 7/1/25. He'll be free to run in a fenced area by the 4th of July! What kind of home would be best for me? Sven is the happiest, silliest boy you will meet. When you look up doodle in the dictionary, it's his picture you should see for the best of the best! Sven absolutely adores people and dreams of having a human (or humans) to call his very own. Whether you’re single, a couple, or a family, he’ll fit right in—as long as you're active like he is. He’d especially love a fenced yard where he can safely run and play, ideally with older children (10+) or another friendly dog. Sven is one of those dogs who just makes people smile. His joyful attitude is contagious, and he wants nothing more than to be by your side. He’d love to join you on walks, hikes, trips to the beach—or even just errands around town. He’s a big fan of outdoor dining spots and coffee shops, especially if there’s a pup cup in it for him. Be ready to make new friends wherever you go—Sven’s charm is irresistible! The only consideration with Sven is that, due to his injury, he may be prone to arthritis in his elbow as he ages. If that happens, there are medications available to help manage it. Right now, though, he’s running, playing, and living life to the fullest. What is my personality like? Meet Sven, your big, happy adventure buddy! Sven is a big, joyful guy who’s recovering wonderfully from a broken elbow he sustained before arriving at the shelter. We rescued him from the shelter and immediately got him the veterinary care he needed. A plate and screws were placed to set the bone, and he’s bounced back with incredible spirit! Sven hardly seemed to notice he was ever injured—it was a challenge just to keep him still during recovery! Now he’s back to romping with other dogs and happily greeting every person he meets. He’s truly a joy to be around. Sven is just a big happy bundle of joy. He gets along with every dog he’s met but may be a bit too much for cats. He believes life is about play, love, and more play—and he’s always ready for both! Sven walks on leash, but some refresher training would be beneficial. He’s eager to learn and aims to please—especially if treats and praise are involved! He’ll thrive with guidance on basic commands like sit, stay, come, and down. How do I act when I first meet new people? “Hi! Let’s play!” That’s Sven’s motto. He greets everyone with enthusiasm, and after some playtime, he’s ready for cuddles and affection. All that’s missing in his life is a forever human to love. Other tips and tidbits: Sven was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition he's estimated at under 3 years old. We celebrate his birthday 11/22/2022. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. May 29, 2025, 7:46 am
