Meet Amiri! Amiri is believed to be a Carolina Dog / Labrador mix. At 2 years old and just 36 pounds, Amiri is the perfect sized companion. She has a heart full of love and a tail that seriously never stops wagging. She’s a petite gal with a big personality—equal parts sweet, playful, and snuggly. Amiri brings joy and smiles wherever she goes. She makes friends with every dog she meets, and happily greets strangers with her enthusiastic, wiggly body. Amiri was found as a stray in Houston, TX and transported to our rescue in early May to get a fresh start, and get away from that city where it is no fun for a dog. From Amiri's foster: * * * * "This girl is SO sweet!!! She LOVES to play with toys, or other dogs, but she is also happy to relax on the couch with you. It's been rainy the last week and she's been a good sport about staying in and snuggling. When the weather is nice though, she does love to go on hikes or walks. I wouldn't be surprised if she had a home at one point. She came to me already potty trained and knowing "sit". She doesn't bark - like we actually have not heard her bark since fostering her! She LOVES people and doesn't know a stranger. On walks, she will walk up to anyone we pass, wagging her tail so hard that her whole backside wags with it and greets them. We have an 11 year old daughter who she is great with, as well. She does great with other dogs too! She makes doggy friends with ease and loves to play with other dogs. She even does well with dogs smaller than her! She is SUCH a good girl!!!" * * * * We don’t know if Amiri has had any formal training, but a (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class will help her build confidence, bond with his new family, and master good manners. Training is essential for a successful adoption, and Farfel’s is happy to provide a list of recommended force-free trainers to set her up for success. Amiri has been fully vetted, is up to date on vaccines, and spayed. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. If you are interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ . **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Amiri, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
