My story

Dessy appreciates attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. She will likely need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that she go to an adult-only home with some cat experience preferred or at least be well counseled in fearful cat behavior.A volunteer writes: The Care Center is merely a brief stop on Dessy's way to her forever home, but it's come on a bit unexpectedly and Dessy seems a bit at a loss on how best to manage. A lifelong learner at 12 years young, she's open to the infinite strategies available when it comes to acclimating to shelter life, but seems to have selected huddling in the corner and giving the impression that she's waiting for life to happen to her. Except she isn't and it's not. In Dessy's previous home, she would play gently with people after being given time to warm up to them and enjoyed being brushed. When I went over to introduce myself, I met this astonishingly sweet kitty who was silently hoping for someone else to make the first move.
