My story

Moochy ACCT-A-221772 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Moochy must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by Tuesday, June 17th, 2025 at 10AM. Should Moochy’s medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Moochy was found wandering alone on 5/31 with abrasions on his face and ears, including pressure sores and a bite wound. While we don’t know what this sweet boy has endured in his past, we do know he’s ready for a better future — one filled with kindness, safety, and love. Despite his rough start, Moochy has shown himself to be a laid-back, affectionate pup. Volunteers describe him as calm, chill, and happy to soak up sunshine and slow strolls in the grass. He leans into affection, climbs into laps for full-body pets, and gently accepts treats. He may not be feeling 100% yet, but his spirit is soft, open, and full of hope. Moochy may be best suited for a home with no other dogs, so he’s looking for a home where he can be your one and only. With a quiet place to recover and a loving human by his side, Moochy is sure to thrive and show even more of the sweet, resilient dog he is. If you're ready to offer a peaceful home and a second chance to a dog who truly deserves it, Moochy is waiting to meet you. He enjoyed a slow trot in the grass and hanging in the sunshine. He solicited pets with body leans and will climb up into your lap for full body pets. Per volunteer 6/3/25: Moochy is ready to smoochy and looking for the love of his life to come scoop him up! Moochy is a handsome boy but he's definitely not looking or feeling 100% right now. He was found as a stray dog with his head and face covered in abrasions, pressure sores, and a bite wound on one side of his face. We don't know how Moochy got these injuries but we do know he'd love a quiet place to recover and a loving person to chill by his side! Per Volunteer Behavior Evaluation 6/3/25: Kennel Presence: When I approached his kennel, he came to the front of the kennel with a wagging tail. Leash: Easily leashed but was trying to push out of the kennel in the process. Very loose body once we got to the play yard. Is a moderate puller. Handling: Take treats pretty gently. Took pets from me on the neck, stayed away from the face due to pressure sores. Very low energy and chill for me today, easy with handling Color: Gold Per volunteer 6/3/25: When I approached his kennel, he came to the front of the kennel with a wagging tail. Easily leashed but was trying to push out of the kennel in the process. Very loose body once we got to the play yard. Is a moderate puller. Take treats pretty gently. Took pets from me on the neck, stayed away from the face due to pressure sores. Very low energy and chill for me today, easy with handling Per finder 5/31/25: Abrasions on face and ears. Did not comment on behavior Medical Notes: 6/3/25: Subjective: Sedated recheck exam of wounds Objective BAR, intact male with two scrotal testicles, neutered today. Heart and lungs auscult normally, no nasal discharge or coughing. Multiple puncture wounds around face/head and ears, two ~2cm lacerations that are full thickness one behind each ear. Some purulent discharge from a few of the puncture wounds, but overall wounds seem to be healing appropriately with minimal to no soft tissue swelling. Ears have dirty debris and dried blood within entry to canals, but no internal inflammation or evidence of ear infection. Assessment Multiple puncture wounds around face/head and ears, two ~2cm lacerations that are full thickness one behind each ear 5/31/25: Objective Pt presented with bite wound/absess on L side of face behind ear and down to jaw. Pt also presented with pressure sores on hind end, R leg and L elbow. Pt was QAR and tolerant of most handling but not the face. Weight: 52.3 lbs Body Condition Score: 8 - Obese Temperature: 101.6°F Respiratory rate: 24 bpm Eyes - red Ears - unable to fully examine but appeared infected Nose - clear Mouth/Teeth/Gums - unable to examine Coat & Skin - No flea/flea dirt, pressure sores present and wound on L side of face Urogenital - male, intact Gait/Mobility - normal no lameness Attitude: QAR, allowed most handling but unable to examine face Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging a dog or cat. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details. If you are a rescue interested in pulling this animal, please email our lifesaving team, or visit here if you are not currently a rescue partner: https://acctphilly.org/acct-philly-love-local-partnership-program/ Confirmed placement is considered confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent. All animals at ACCT Philly are from Philadelphia, as the only open intake animal shelter in Philadelphia, we are not able to accept animals from outside of Philadelphia. ACCT Philly’s Pennsylvania kennel license number is 08313.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Moochy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
