My story

Meet Cheeto!Cheeto is a 3-year-old sweetheart with striking markings and a heart of gold. When he was first found, he was in rough shape-but thanks to some love and care, he`s made an amazing recovery and is now ready for his forever home.Cheeto is FIV-positive, but that doesn`t stop him from being as loving, gentle, and sweet as any other cat. He enjoys attention, cozy naps, and making friends. His beautiful coat and soulful eyes make him stand out, but it`s his kind nature that really steals hearts.Cheeto is looking for someone to give him the second chance he deserves. Could it be you?FIV Facts 1. The Feline Immune-deficiency Virus is a slow virus that affects a cat`s immune system over a period of years.2. FIV is a cat-only disease and cannot be spread to humans or other non-felines.3. FIV cats most often live long, healthy and relatively normal lives with no symptoms at all.4. FIV is not easily passed between cats. It cannot be spread casually - like in litter boxes, water and food bowls, or when snuggling and playing. It is rarely spread from a mother to her kittens.5. The virus can be spread through blood transfusions, badly infected gums, or serious, penetrating bite wounds. (Bite wounds of this kind are extremely rare, except in free-roaming, un-neutered tomcats.)6. A neutered cat, in a home, is extremely unlikely to infect other cats, if properly introduced.7. FIV positive cats should be kept as healthy as possible. Keep them indoors and free from stress, feed them a high-quality diet, keep and treat any secondary problems as soon as they arise. Busting Myths:Despite what many people think, cats with this condition can live perfectly long, happy, healthy lives!Adopting an FIV+ cat isn’t costly or complicated.FIV+ cats do not need special diets or expensive treatments. Regular vet care, indoor living, and love are all they require.”Adopting an FIV+ cat means opening your heart to a wonderful companion who will love you unconditionally. These cats often get overlooked but have so much love to give. We’ve witnessed countless FIV+ cats thriving with their new families—snuggling with siblings, playing, and proving every day that they’re just as amazing as any FIV- cat.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Cheeto, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
