Hi. I’m Rowan. Here’s the deal: if you're looking for a cat who instantly runs into your arms, purrs like a lawnmower, and showers you with affection from day one… I am not that cat. But! If you’re into slow-burn friendships, unexpected comedy, and earning the trust of a cat who’s equal parts mystery and mush — well, hi. Let’s talk. Oh, and yes, I hiss to greet you — but hear me out. I’m a talkative tabby with soft eyes, a big heart, and a serious talent for finding the smallest, most impossible hiding spots. When I arrive somewhere new, my first order of business is locating the perfect hideout to disappear. Closet? Opened. Under the bed? It's my favorite. If it's tempting, I'll find it. It’s not personal — I just need time to feel safe and am really good at hiding. Even once I start to trust you, I’ll probably still greet you with a little hiss. If you try to approach or move about or even think about moving, I’ll dart away like it’s a sport back to my hideout. But sit down, get comfy, and give me a minute, maybe a treat — suddenly I’m right there, rubbing my face against your hand, offering a headbutt, and settling in beside you like we’ve been best friends forever. Move or stand up, and I'm back to my hiding spot. Now, don’t get any big ideas about picking me up. If you try to scoop me while I’m walking around, I’ll have none of it. But if we’re already lounging on the couch and the vibes are right? I might just let you pick me up and hold me close — no drama, just chill couch-cat energy. I was rescued from the great outdoors, and while I’m still working on my confidence, I’ve learned that life indoors comes with some real perks: chin scratches, cozy naps, and churu treats (not the cinnamon churro kind — the cat kind). I love to play, especially with ball or spring toys, which I'll proudly carry to my hideout like little treasures. Oh, and that thing that appears innocent enough. Just a stick with a string or feather dangling from the end. But do not be fooled. That thing flits and zips and taunts me with every flick of the wrist. It dares me to pounce, to leap, to carry back to my hideout. Are you still reading & interested? I’m looking for a calm, patient home where I can come out of my shell on my own time. A confident, respectful kitty roommate would be great too — I don’t mind a few hisses from the locals, and I never hiss back at cats, you I will hiss at. If you’ve got a peaceful place, a kind heart, and definitely a toy or two, I think we could be something special. I just need a little time — and maybe a churu. Headbutts & Hisses, Rowan
