My story

Sunny sideup is a bright and affectionate young pup who’s eager to bring light into the right home. He is full of playful energy, loves snuggling up in bed with his people, and munching on a good bone! True to his puppy nature, Sunny sideup would do best in a home that will work with him and a trainer to give him a consistent schedule and exercise. Sunny sideup’s ideal home will be adult only given his mouthiness. Sunny is still a puppy at heart and will need continued guidance, structure, and positive reinforcement training as she grows. He already knows “sit” and “come,” walks nicely on leash, and is mostly house-trained, so he’s off to a great start! This sweet boy would do best in a feline-free home where he can focus on learning and bonding without distractions. He is looking for a patient home who can support him through his puppy phases. In return, Sunny will reward you with endless loyalty, goofy zoomies, and unconditional love. Are you ready to help Sunny sideup shine? Meet him at ACCT Philly any day between 10 am & 6 pm VIDEOS Sunny sideup knows sit: https://youtube.com/shorts/4YIHzOor0_k?feature=shared Start your days with Sunny sideup: https://youtube.com/shorts/aXpt-yj3GYc?feature=shared BEHAVIOR: Volunteer notes 7/24: Sunny was at his kennel door with some mild jumpy energy. It took a few attempts to loop him as he was biting the leash. We started over 2x and then he exited the kennel with jumpy energy and some mild leash biting. I let him calm down in the kennel row which happened within 30 seconds and then we walked outside with a moderate cadence and solid walking (no jumping). Sunny tried to bite the leash a few more time so I shortened the avail leash to him and we picked up our pace. He was good on the leash while walking on HPA w/no reaction to the loud noises. His walking was straight and in front of me. Sunny took treats nicely and sat calmly with focus on me for them. While in an outside run, he was distracted as other dogs came outside by running toward them. He was not vocal but loose with a high tail and energy seemed to be interested in other dogs. Sunny did come to me on command for treats while a dog was nearby. He sat and took the treats nicely. No issues walking through the kennels as he stepped in on his own. I grabbed a bowl from under his bed and then removed his leash with no issues Staff 7/20/25: Adopter of dog noted bites at level 2 and 3, but no bites within 10 days. The dog has an abundance of puppy energy and will need some training and structure in order to become the best dog he can be. Therefore, he will need an adopter who is willing to put in the time and effort to train him. The adopter came in with the dog muzzled, staff asked ACA to remove the muzzle so the dog could be placed in a kennel without it, and the dog was extremely high energy, jumping up and leash biting. I would recommend only adopting him out to someone who is willing to book a training appointment ahead of time, and council the adopter on these behaviors to make sure they are prepared for the time and energy they are going to have to put in. Will note that I did not see any aggression at all, just untrained puppy behavior per day trip 6/13: Sunny is a very lovable, cuddly dog. He still has that puppy energy and is always looking for snuggles. We went to Tacony Creek and Sunny was excited to hear all the birds, see the water, and steal pets and praise from passersby. When he's not too distracted he walks well on a leash. He also loves to play with his chew toy 06/08/2025 previous owner shared: “he’s a good boy needs to training and lots of attention” ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in.
