My story

What my friends at ACC say about me:My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.I prefer to call the shots and enjoy coming to you when I'm ready for pets.My foster writes: Were you a fan of Garfield the cat growing up but wished he was a tad bit sweeter? If so, then Chippy's the guy for you! Like Garfield, Chippy loves his beauty sleep and will never not lick his bowl clean. He perks up at the slightest crinkle of a bag of treats. However, unlike Garfield, Chippy has a slightly shyer and sweeter personality. Chippy took a few days to open up. He found a hiding spot above my kitchen cabinets for the first days here, even stubbornly staying up there while the fumes from a spice-filled dinner I cooked wafted upwards (see photos for poor Chippy tearing up). He still enjoys his perch above the cabinets for some alone time during the day, but loves a good chin and ear scratch while up there. He'll also come down to sit next to me while I'm on the couch reading a book or to sleep by my side at night. He also loves being brushed - he wakes me up in the mornings for some brushing and a big stretch before his breakfast. Chippy has brought me lots of laughs and love and I know he'll do the same for you!A volunteer writes: Chippy's started to offer us more of his personality, which is especially sweet considering all the big changes he's been through recently. Brought to us with another cat when their person passed away, Chippy is taking some time to reflect on where he is and who he wants to be. The first time we met, I offered Chippy my hand and he shied away. Adjusting to a new chapter can take time, but another chance is coming and Chippy seems to understand this too. The second time we met, I did the same and Chippy leaned his cheeks into my hand in friendship. Coming forward to share some treats and love, Chippy leaned his head all the way down to rest in his quietly cheerful way.
