Introducing my spotted friend, Ranchito Dorito! He’s a mellow fellow with the best smile and pointy ears! He’s pretty chill with all living beings and he’s ready to find his forever family! We believe Ranchito is a mix who is around 5 years old and weighs approximately 50 pounds. Due to him being a rescue, age and breed cannot be guaranteed. But that’s what makes it kinda fun for pups like Ranchito! He’s a certified Texas special and it would be a great conversation starter trying to guess what his breeds are! Check out Ranchito in action here: https://youtu.be/BUTnMJwDIoY When I think of Ranchito, I think of slow evenings on my back porch sipping an ice cold drink as the sun sets. He is the best boy to just live a steady life with. He is out of his puppy phase and is enjoying his life as a guy who doesn’t need much. He just wants someone to love him, a place to wind down, and snacks to munch on. Speaking of snacks, Ranchito LOVES food. We thought about switching his name to Hoover just based on how he inhaled any snacks offered to him! The key to this man’s heart is indeed through his stomach! He is going to fall head over heels for the one who is willing to be his personal vending machine, LOL. When we introduced Ranchito to some of the dogs on our property, he was very cordial with all of them. He allowed them to sniff and investigate him without any sort of issue. He wasn’t the one to initiate any roughhousing and preferred to enjoy space with the pups in a leisurely manner. Due to his mild nature, if there were to be another dog in the home, Ranchito would thrive best with a low to medium energy canine that knows when it’s time to settle down. But honestly, Ranchito is so independent that he would be absolutely fine as a solo dog, soaking in all of the cuddles and snagging the best napping spots for himself. Around cats, Ranchito still carries his calm and peacekeeping demeanor. When he met our housecat Biggie, he was carefully cautious, giving Biggie a couple of sniffs here and there. But he ultimately left him alone and focused on other things. Ranchito is considered cat tolerant and would do fine in a home with a dog savvy cat that doesn’t mind the occasional canine curiosity sniffs. It was really sweet to watch Ranchito interact with our friend Ellie (5). When she entered the room, he greeted her with gentle tail wags and kisses. He was also very careful as Ellie extended her finger for Ranchito to enjoy some cheese off of. He would be fine with kids around Ellies’ age or older that understand how to be gentle around dogs who aren’t the super playful type. Ranchito’s compact size and mild manners make him a great candidate for apartment life or home living. He isn’t super energetic and isn’t the type to seek extensive exercise. The only thing may be that he would be best on first floor apartments or places that don’t have alot of stairs. He hasn’t shown signs of any mobility issues, but due to the fact that he is not a young whippersnapper anymore, it may be best on his joints if they didn’t have the daily strain that comes from steps. Overall, Ranchito is going to make an amazing pet for someone looking for a friend to wind down with. He will always be ready to welcome you on the couch and give you kisses to say “I love you.” Is Ranchito your boy? Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress! Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded. It doesn’t stop there! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
