My story

Meet Walter – Your Future Brainy Best Friend!Walter is a young pup with a brilliant mind and a heart ready to love. Since arriving in his foster home, he’s been impressing everyone with how quickly he’s learning the ropes. He’s already mastered sit, down, and “leave it” (especially when treats are involved), and he’s even figured out an “implied sit” at doors and gates—no prompting needed! This handsome guy thrives with structure and loves to learn. Give his brain a puzzle to solve or a new trick to master, and he’s all in! Walter also enjoys the company of other dogs—he’s currently living with three canine foster siblings and has become quite the playmate. He does best with dogs who are calm and well-mannered, and he`s still learning how to handle high-energy situations, especially with young or unneutered male dogs.Walter is a total people-lover and has been sweet and gentle with the adults and older kids in his foster home. Because he’s still figuring out how to interact with smaller children, he’d be happiest in a home with kids 10 and up who can help reinforce good boundaries while showing him the love he craves. He’s also doing great with crate training—sleeping soundly through the night—and is making steady progress on house training. Like many dogs who’ve had a rough start, Walter can be sensitive to fast movements and sudden changes, but his foster family is helping him build confidence day by day. With patience, consistency, and lots of love, he continues to blossom.Walter would do best in a home without cats for now, but his foster family is optimistic that, with time and continued guidance, he might learn how to coexist peacefully with feline friends, just as he did with his dog siblings. If you`re looking for a smart, loyal companion who’s eager to grow and love alongside you, Walter may just be your perfect match. He’s got the potential to be a truly incredible dog—he’s just waiting for someone to believe in him.~~~~~The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is open every day from noon until 6pm (excluding limited holidays/events).
