My story

Dog Name: Zoey Breed: Chihuahua Sex: Female Age: 8+ Weight: 10 lbs Medical Needs: Zoey has luxating patellas and will occasionally walk with one back leg in the air. It doesn't slow her down. She beat heartworm disease, but does have a lingering cough that is on likely caused by scarring left behind. Adopters should be sure to keep up with her preventatives. Housebroken: No. She will use puppy pads, but if given free roam without supervision and will absolutely go anywhere she pleases. Crate trained: Yes. The crate is her safe place. Good in the car: Yes Good on a leash: No. She doesn't understand what it is and will freeze if you try to pull her along. Energy level: Low Need a fenced in yard: Yes Dog Friendly: Yes If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? Yes. She has never lived without another dog and will follow their lead. Cat Friendly? Unknown Kid Friendly: Unknown If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Older teens only. They are scared of fast movements and loud noises. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Zoey was rescued from a hoarding/neglect situation in GA. During this time, she was housed in a kennel with several other dogs with limited human interaction. She understands that people bring food, and that's about it. She is not snappy or bitey; preferring to run to the safety of her crate when scared/nervous. Zoey deserves so much better than what life previously gave her, especially now in her senior years. A quiet home with people who are willing to accept that she will need an extensive warmup period before getting comfortable in a new home. Zoey likes to stroll around the yard in the warmer months and roll around in the grass. She also love beds. The fluffier the better! Fosters Location: Dover Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app ##2175516##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Zoey, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
