My story

If his handsome face hasn't won you over yet, wait until you hear a little bit more about Diego! Diego is a young cat who loves wand toys, anything that crackles, and likes to splash around in the sink when allowed to do so. Diego may be a bit nervous in the beginning but once he warms up and gets to know you, he is ready to be your couch potato bestie to watch the best shows with. Diego has lived with other cats in the past and let us know he would not mind living with another feline friend again but does request a slow introduction is set in place for everybody's comfortability. Diego would love to meet you and, hopefully, come home with you soon! Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available cats in the shelter. (Cats in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the cat first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a cat for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available on Saturdays and during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All cat adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies vaccine -current distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -FeLV/FIV blood test -microchip implanted & registered to the adopter -treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your new pet.
