My story

Animal ID: ###### How this pet arrived: This pet was brought in by a community member 4/26/2025. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Ophelia, a sensitive and soulful young dog with a heart full of love and a gentle spirit that's slowly blooming. Ophelia has made incredible strides since entering our care, especially with the support and structure of our Behavior Center and her trainer. She's built trust with her caregivers and is beginning to greet familiar faces with soft eyes, a low wagging tail, and even playful bursts of energy. Though she's still working through some fear-based behaviors, Ophelia is showing us just how much she wants to connect-offering comforting licks, seeking closeness, and checking in with her people often.Outdoors, she enjoys stretching her legs in the yard and, more often than not, prefers human companionship to toys or treats. While she sometimes gets excited and bounces up for attention, she responds well to gentle guidance and continues to improve with consistency. She thrives on calm, patient interactions and is learning to walk on leash with growing confidence. Because of her sensitivity, Ophelia will do best in a home with older respectful children and with adults who are committed to continuing her positive journey, ideally in consultation with a trainer to support her transition and ensure she feels safe and understood.Ophelia may need time to adjust, but once she trusts you, she's a sweet and loyal companion who will always seek your side. If you're looking for a gentle soul who just wants to be loved and guided with kindness, Ophelia might be the perfect match for you. At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home! Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: Black Weight: 53 Age: 3yrs 1mths 1wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Ophelia, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
