My story

Delta A#222312 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Delta must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER and/or ADOPTER by June 27, 2025 at 10AM. Should Delta's medical or behavioral status change, their urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Delta arrived at ACCT Philly after she was found alone along the highway—shy, quiet, and unsure of her surroundings. Since then, she’s made small, brave steps forward each day. Though she’s reserved at first, Delta greets you with soft eyes and a gentle wag. Volunteers describe her as “sweet but shy,” and her calm, soulful presence is one that touches the heart of everyone who spends time with her. While she can be hesitant with handling and new situations, Delta remains tolerant and trusting, especially when approached with patience and kindness. She accepts affection—often lowering herself submissively—and has shown interest in toys and gentle play, even if she’s not quite ready to fully let loose. Her leash skills are gentle with minimal pulling, and she responds well to positive reinforcement. Delta would do best in a peaceful, loving home where she can exhale, settle in, and feel truly safe. If you’ve got room in your heart for a shy girl who just needs a little time to bloom, Delta will reward you with quiet loyalty and unconditional love. Due to length of stay, Delta needs a safe shelter exit as soon as possible. On June 8th, she had medium energy and showed mild mouthing, slight hesitation with the leash, and some shyness. There were no issues with jumpiness. She was described as “sweet but shy” and allowed a staff member to rub her belly before calmly returning to her kennel. Another entry later that day labeled her “Eval” and again noted her shyness. On June 13th, she was walked again and showed medium energy with no reported behavioral concerns. She was noted as being “shy” but was praised with a cheerful “Good girl!” Per volunteer 6/08/2025: Delta Known history: stray in Kennel presentation: Delta was lying on her bed when I approached her kennel. I showed her my leash and open the door and she slowly began to get up. Her body was loose. She had soft eyes and she gave me low tail wags. She patiently waited for me to leash her and then hopped out of her kennel. Leash: minimal pulling Handling: in the room, Delta remained loose, but fearful. She had her tail tucker but would give low tail wags. At times she would tense up/ hard stare due to uncomfortableness when petting her back end. She allowed all handling and was tolerant of it, just uncomfortable. I brought a toy out and she was interested in following it when thrown, but got nervous when it was squeaked. When reaching over her head to pet she was nervous and became submissive. She would lower herself to the ground out of fearfulness. Toys: interested but nervous Play: did not attempt Medical: Delta is being treated for an upper respiratory infection and has been on antibiotics since 6/17 Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately.Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging a dog or cat. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details. If you are a rescue interested in pulling this animal, please email our lifesaving team, or visit here if you are not currently a rescue partner: https://acctphilly.org/acct-philly-love-local-partnership-program/Confirmed placement is considered confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent. All animals at ACCT Philly are from Philadelphia, as the only open intake animal shelter in Philadelphia, we are not able to accept animals from outside of Philadelphia. ACCT Philly’s Pennsylvania kennel license number is 08313.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Delta, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
