My story

Raiku is a beautiful girl with a very shy spirit and a tender heart. The shelter environment is incredibly overwhelming for her, and right now, she’s very scared. She tends to keep to herself, unsure of the world around her—but we believe there`s a quiet strength in Raiku, just waiting for the right person to help her feel safe enough to shine.Raiku is a special case. She will need time—a lot of it. She will need a calm, predictable environment and a very patient adopter with a deep understanding of cat behavior and body language. Her ideal home is one where she can go at her own pace, where she won’t be rushed or expected to be anything other than herself. She may never be a lap cat, but with the right person, we believe she can find peace, comfort, and maybe even a sense of joy in her forever home. If you’re someone who understands that love sometimes takes time—and are ready to offer that gift to a cat in need—Raiku might just be the one who needs you most.Adoptable cats/kittens are spayed/neutered, started on core vaccines per shelter protocols, microchipped, FIV/FeLV tested, and started on monthly preventatives. Adoptions hours (no appointment needed) are M/T/W/F 10 am - 12:30 pm and 2 pm -4 pm; TH 10 am -12:30 pm and 2 pm -6:30 pm, and SAT 9 am -1 pm. To schedule an appointment outside of those hours, and/or to learn more information regarding a particular animal, please call the Feline Department at 410-848-4810 ext 822. If no one answers, please leave a detailed message with your name and phone number, and the call will be returned by end of business Monday - Friday. Adopters can prepare for their visit by being 21 years of age or older, having permission from their landlord to bring a new pet into their household, having some form of ID that shows their current address, and by bringing a suitable carrier to take their new companion home in. The adoption fee can be paid using cash, debit or credit and is based on age: Cats 1 year and younger are $75; cats 2 years to 7 years are $50; and 8 years and older are $25.
