My story

Sammie and DD are a bonded pair. Sammie and DD found themselves homeless and were forced to live outside. They're safe now in a foster home and they're ready for a permanent place to live.   Sammie and DD are very different dogs but they're a bonded pair and must be adopted together.  Sammie is a 5yo Shih-Tzu and weighs 9 pounds.  DD is a 9yo Yorkie and weighs 11 pounds. Sammie does not like men or children and DD loves everyone.  They are absolute cuddle bugs and if you’re a couch potato, these could be the dogs for you.  They are not housebroken and they may never be. They poop outside but they do still have pee accidents in the house and they need to go outside frequently.  They will not go outside without a person being with them. DD especially needs a very consistent routine where she is taken out every 2 hours during the day. They will occasionally use a pee pad inside but sometimes they use the floor. They are not a good fir for anyone that works away from home or is gone for long periods of time. They love toys and DD carries one in her mouth most of the time. They are very yappy little dogs.  Sammie really wants to be a baby and have a mama that will hold her and snuggle all the time.  She’ll sit on your lap for hours while you work.  She will bond with a woman that cares for her. In order for a man or another person in the house to bond with her, they will need to put in a lot of work holding her, petting her and being patient. It will takes almost a year for her to stop barking at a man in the house all the time. It takes a lot of time for her to be ok with other people that she is not bonded with, and she will bark at anyone she isn't bonded to every time she sees them. This requires patience.  DD barks to say hello to everyone and Sammie barks to say stay away.  They are both good with cats and other dogs but they don't interact with them. They romp and play with each other. A retired person or someone that is home a lot is the perfect fit for them.  They are crate trained, spayed, heartworm negative and current on their vaccines. Sammie is afraid of fast movements and she does not like children of any age, so a home with children is not a fit for her.   Contact: doggieharmonyatlanta@gmail.com (Amy)   We are 100% donation-funded and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself. Please expect an adoption fee; some of our urgent or long-term dogs have discounted fees. June 7, 2025, 8:39 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sammie and DD, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
