Winky

My story

I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog I:8Winky is a 1-year-old, 34-pound pittie mix who’s curious, active, and sweet-natured. Found as a stray, she’s quickly adjusted to shelter life. She participates in daily playgroups, and could thrive in a home with a well-matched dog sibling, or soak up all your attention as a solo pup. Volunteers describe her as a high-energy young pup, but she’s polite and easy to manage. She knows sit and down, responds well to direction, and takes treats gently. She would do great with consistent training, daily exercise, and someone who appreciates her zest for life.  On a recent field trip, Winky rode calmly in the car and showed lots of interest in her surroundings. She walked on leash with a lot of enthusiasm and curiosity, pulling throughout. While she seemed very interested in everything around her, she remained loose and friendly. Winky’s ideal home will give her the exercise, structure, and love she craves. If you're looking for a fun-loving companion with tons of potential, Winky just might be your girl!
