My story

Meet Terry! At just 21 pounds, this darling long-haired dachshund has never met a stranger. He is very friendly and social with everyone he meets and just loves to be with his people. Terry is heartworm positive, which means he’ll need a loving adopter willing to help him through treatment, a very long process that includes VERY strict rest, meds, and vet care. The good thing is - the expenses are on us, you`ll just need to stick to the treatment schedule and set up his appointments with our veterinary partner. The tricky side is that his heartworm disease is quite advanced, which makes treatment more risky. If you are interested in Terry, come on in and we`ll share the medical information we have to set everyone up for success. He`s going through a rough time in his life, and really needs someone to see him through it.If you`re looking for a laid-back companion with an excellent personality and a heart ready to heal, Terry is your guy!This pet is eligible for an Adoption Audition! What is an Adoption Audition? It’s a 5-day, no-strings-attached, trial adoption period. You can take this pet home to try it out! Interested? Come to the shelter any time during open hours and talk to one of our Customer Care staff! Be sure to check the `shelter information` box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Fairfax Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours!
