Meet handsome Barkus! This sweet boy is a 60-pound lab mix. He is 5 years old. Barkus is looking for a forever family that will give him the life he deserves. Barkus has typical lab energy. He would make a great hiking buddy. He also is a big lover of car rides. He will be the first at the car and ready to go. Barkus enjoys spending time outside or inside, as long as play is involved! He ultimate goal is being with people. He enjoys being around other dogs also, but people and food make him the happiest. He is often found with carrying toys around the house and will also fall asleep with one in his mouth. He is a happy guy that just wants company and a lap to lay on. Barkus is definitely a large lap dog and is basically a live weighted blanket for everyone that will cuddle with him, but he would not have it any other way and he feels size should not matter when it comes to being a lap dog. It showcases his silly nature and lovable personality. When it is time to get up in the morning, Barkus will wait until his humans are up even if that means sleeping in a bit later. Barkus gets along well with other dogs and children. He would be a wonderful addition to a family with one or both in residence. Barkus has not met cats yet. Barkus is working on his leash training. He is a smart pup who aims to please, so he will surely pick up this important skill with the help of his new family. He is already ahead of the curve as he has already learned his house-training skills and his crate training. He is quiet in his crate and will patiently wait for his family to start the day. Although he is housetrained, it is important to remember that accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment. If Backus sounds like your new best friend, read below!* When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine.
