My story

Turk is a scruffy little West Highland Terrier mix, around 2 years old, with a confident personality and a big heart. He weighs about 17 pounds, though he could stand to lose a couple—which just means more to love in the meantime. He absolutely loves people and is happiest when he’s getting attention, whether that’s being pet, snuggled, or simply sitting by your side. He’s fairly food motivated and already knows the "sit" command, which makes training a fun and easy process. Turk is currently working on his potty training and still has some marking tendencies, so he’ll need continued patience and structure as he learns the ropes. He does well in a crate overnight and settles down nicely. Turk gets along well with other dogs and enjoys their company. His friendly, social nature makes him a great fit for a multi-dog household or a home where he can have regular playmates. With his expressive face, soft coat, and affectionate personality, Turk is the kind of dog who makes fast friends with everyone he meets. He’s looking for a home where he can soak up affection, continue his training, and most of all, be loved. Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption.
