Flower Power may have started her journey alone in a shelter kennel, but this 3–4 month old Dachshund-Catahoula mix is blooming into the most loyal, loving pup you could imagine. From the moment she joined her foster home, it was clear this girl had a gentle soul and a big heart—especially for the little ones. She's a devoted protector of her toddler foster sibling, sleeping beside the bed every night like a tiny, furry guardian angel. Despite her puppy status, Flower Power has a calm and thoughtful energy. She enjoys short bursts of zoomies and fetch sessions (she’s already mastered the return-and-drop part!), but she's just as happy curling up in a cozy dog bed or stretching out for a snooze on the couch. She wakes around 7am, takes a brief potty break, and starts her day with some light yard exploration— sticks and tiny rocks are her treasures of choice. Meals are a slow, savored affair for this refined little lady, with breakfast enjoyed throughout the morning and dinner around 6pm. Flower is a classic Velcro pup, gently shadowing her foster family from room to room. She’s particularly bonded to the women and children in the home and keeps a watchful ear out at night, barking only when she hears something that might threaten her people. She's a quiet presence otherwise— respectful with cats, gentle with kids, and cautious around larger dogs, though she'd love a small canine friend to keep her company. Though she's still working on her potty training and getting used to walking on a leash (she's a baby, after all!), she’s already crate-trained and sleeps through the night without accidents. Like any teething pup, she does enjoy chewing, so supervision is needed outdoors where tempting rocks and twigs abound— but she’s impressively well-behaved and listens when you ask her to 'leave it' or 'drop it.' That kind of responsiveness is rare in a young puppy! Flower Power would thrive in a family with children, a calm small dog, or a friendly cat. She's smart, affectionate, and beautifully attuned to the people she loves. And with her endearing lopsided ears—one up, one flopped—plus her hilarious obsession with chasing hose water, she’s sure to bring smiles wherever she goes. Ready to welcome some Flower Power into your life? She’s more than ready to give her heart to a forever family. June 11, 2025, 4:35 am
