Hi, I’m Vinca, a gentle soul with a calm heart and the sweetest eyes. I recently finished being a mama, and now that my puppies are growing up, I’m finally getting to enjoy a little "me time"—and let me tell you, lounging on the couch or going for a peaceful walk is my kind of day! I'm great with other dogs, both big and small, and I've even met some cats—I usually just ignore them unless they want to say hi, and even then, I’m polite and calm. I’ve also met kids and was a perfect lady, happily soaking up pets without jumping or getting overly excited. I'm the type of pup who waits patiently for your attention or gently walks over to you with a wag and a smile. I’m potty trained for the most part—just the occasional overnight accident if I don’t get out in time—and crate trained too. I don’t know many commands yet, but I’m a good listener and eager to learn. On a leash, I walk nicely and just need a little guidance when I get distracted. I'm calm overall, but I do have little bursts of playfulness now that I have more freedom. I’m not food-protective, but I do like to check what’s on the counters—what can I say? I’m curious! My foster mom just gently reminds me, and I’m learning. I don’t really go for toys yet, and I’m not big on treats (except for Munchy sticks—yum!), but I love to hang near my person. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will quietly follow you from room to room and be a steady, loving presence in your life, I might be your girl. I’m the kind of dog who fits in just about anywhere—a family with kids, a home with other pups, or even a quiet household where I can be your best friend. I’ve got lots of love to give and a gentle spirit that’s ready to finally be someone’s cherished dog. Will you be the one to give me my forever? — Vinca 🐾 This dog is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. Please note that we cannot hold dogs for any reason. If the dog or puppy is not yet fully vetted, we can only consider applications from adopters within an hour's drive or 40 miles of Lemont, IL, due to required vet visits at our partner veterinarians. For fully vetted dogs or puppies, we welcome applications from out-of-state or beyond the 40-mile radius. Please only apply if you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into your home within five days of approval. Breed and Age Information: Unless the puppy was born in our care, we cannot guarantee the breed or age. Breed and age estimates are based on veterinary advice, shelter records, physical appearance, and information provided by previous owners. The adoption fee includes: Spay/neuter (performed at one of our partner veterinarians as scheduled by the rescue) Microchip Rabies vaccine DHPP vaccine Bordetella vaccine 4DX test (Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia, Lyme Disease) General wellness care, including deworming, heartworm prevention, and flea/tick prevention Your adoption fee also helps support medical care for other rescue animals, including heartworm treatments, surgeries, and emergency care. Spay/Neuter Policy: We spay/neuter dogs at 16 weeks or older, at the discretion of the rescue and in consultation with our partner veterinarians. While some veterinarians recommend delaying the procedure based on a breeds projected size, as a rescue, our primary goal is to prevent unwanted litters. Spaying and neutering also provide significant health benefits, including cancer prevention and reducing behavioral issues. The American Animal Hospital Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association support pediatric spay/neuter for cats and dogs as early as 16 weeks. We carefully assess each case to determine the best timing for the procedure. Interested in Adopting? Submit an adoption application at www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt
