My story

Meet Otto!If Otto could talk, he would sound like Winnie the Pooh or an elderly Englishman. There just has to be lots of "oh bother"s and "oh great heavens"es going on in that tiny head of his. Otto is a long-haired dachshund, about twelve years old, and is missing all of his teeth except his canines. He weighs about ten pounds and most of it is floof. He can't see or hear very well (but CAN still see and hear to some degree) but he's just happy to be here! Since he can't see or hear very well, he doesn't like being touched without warning which is totally fair, but the most he'll do is give you a really disapproving, borderline disappointed look that will make you, your ancestors, and your future offspring feel bad. Otto does have some nuclear sclerosis which is just the fancy terminology for old dog cloudy eyeball syndrome. Other than that, and the fact that he's a gummy bear, he's a pretty healthy dog for his age! He still finds enjoyment in walks and lounging in the sunshine, he likes meeting new people, and he's just looking for the right lap to curl up in for whatever time he has left. He's very, very gentle so he would be good with kids and the elderly alike. Most people should be able to handle him on a leash since he has one speed and it's "waddle".He doesn't care about cats one way or another and he's happy enough to be around other dogs. We of course don't want him to be squashed by anything bigger than him or terrorized by a rambunctious puppy, so similar size/temperament/energy level pups only please! He is fragile and precious and must be protected at all costs. If a Werther's Original came to life, it would be Otto. To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Once complete, you can email it to us at fpas1@foreverpaws.com or fax it to us at 508-677-9175.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Otto, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
