My story

Meet Ricky! Ricky may be small in size, but his heart is huge. This sweet senior Chihuahua was found wandering the streets of Buffalo? blind and alone—but from the moment he was rescued, he’s shown nothing but love. When Ricky went in to be neutered, the vet made the compassionate decision to remove his eyes due to painful glaucoma. He was already blind, and the surgery helped relieve his discomfort. Despite his age and blindness, Ricky still has so much life left in him. He loves sniffing around the yard and exploring the outdoors— especially when the sun is shining on his face. He navigates his world with confidence and curiosity, guided by his other senses and a brave little spirit. Ricky does well with other dogs and doesn’t even notice the cats. But what truly makes him special is how deeply he bonds with his person. Once Ricky knows you, he loves you with all of his heart. He thrives on connection and affection—and when he trusts you, you’ll have the most loyal, snuggly little shadow by your side. His favorite thing in the world? Snuggling. Whether it’s curling up beside you on the couch, napping in a cozy bed, or simply being close to his person, Ricky is happiest when he’s surrounded by love and calm. Ricky may not have his eyesight, but he sees with his heart—and he’s hoping to find someone who sees him the same way.
