Hello world!! My name is GORDITA and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Basenji/Terrier mix (best guess, really!) Age: approx. 1 year Gender: Female Weight: 40 lbs Current Location: TEXAS RESCUE STORY - I am part of the "Taco Bell" litter who came to the County Roads Rescue facility at just two week sold. We were rescued along with our mama dog from a drug dealer who was hoarding dogs. While most of my siblings have been adopted, three of us are still awaiting our chance at forever homes. My rescuers are very surprised because they say we are all so amazing! TEMPERAMENT - I am a sweet and friendly girl! I can be submissive and a little shy upon first introductions, but with time I become more playful and bouncy. I have grown up at the rescue facility, although I did have the opportunity to go live in a foster home for a little bit. They said I was very well mannered and oh so sweet! My rescuers say I'm also a really intelligent gal who is keen to learn and eager to please (highly trainable!). I would love an active family who can take me on outdoor adventures, I'm sure I'd be a great adventure buddy! ENERGY LEVEL - Medium - I can be energetic and playful at times (once I'm comfortable), but once my brain and body are sufficiently exercised, I'm a cuddly pup who enjoys affection and snuggles. Truly I'm the perfect combo of adventure companion and couch cuddler. GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Yup! Video coming soon. as with ALL dogs, I should always be supervised around children and I need to have my space respected. It's important to remember I am a rescue pup with minimal training, so I may play nip or bounce/jump up on people (including children!) Dogs – Yup! Check out my video with my brother Nacho! Cats – Yup! Check out my video. PREY DRIVE - Low. I have not shown prey drive with small dogs or cats. I don't know how I'll react to squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, if they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – I do pretty well on a slip leash but would love an adopter who is willing to continue working with me on my leash skills. Crate trained - Yes! Growing up in a kennel/shelter environment, my kennel is my safe space. There may be an adjustment period when I go to my new home, but with proper use, the crate can be my safe space :) House trained – I am house trained for the most part and know to do my business outside whenever I can. There may be an adjustment period when I go to my new home, but I'm sure with frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement in my new home, I'll catch on quickly! Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives. HEALTH NOTES: I have been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I have tested negative for heartworm after treatment. I will be tested for distemper and parvo before travelling (although I've been vaccinated for both!) NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $840.00, including applicable taxes ($750.00 CAD + 5% GST and 7% PST), which includes my ground transport to Edmonds, Washington. My adopter needs to be willing to drive to Edmonds, Washington to pick me up! :) ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and it's adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live. WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. These are strictly "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and their educated estimates. ##2426335##
