My story

Introducing our latest member of the Outdoorsy Cats Program! These amazing cats are special because they prefer the great outdoors and would thrive in environments where they can use their natural instincts to hunt and play. While they may not be the typical lap cats, they are perfect for individuals or businesses who need a reliable and effective solution for pest control. Our program is dedicated to providing these cats with a healthy and happy life in a non-traditional adoption setting. By adopting an outdoorsy cat, you are not only gaining a valuable addition to your property, but you are also helping to maintain a healthy feral cat population.Outdoorsy cats are adopted out in the order that they arrived, minimizing the amount of time they spend in the shelter. Our outdoorsy cats are sterilized, vaccinated against rabies, and adopted to owners who appreciate working cats for rodent patrol and can provide a safe, appropriate environment, such as a porch, barn, stable, garage, or warehouse. This way, these cats enjoy a safe outdoor home with shelter and a caregiver, and adopters enjoy having healthy, sterilized cats that happily tend to their vermin troubles. When you bring your outdoorsy cats home, they will need to be confined to an escape-free room or enclosure for two to four weeks before being released. During this time, you need to provide food, water, a litter box, and a safe space for your outdoorsy cats to hide whenever they feel frightened. It`s important to help outdoorsy cats have a successful transition to their new surroundings and form a bond, from afar, with their new people. Do this by frequent visits with them and talking to them during this relocation period. Feeding wet food at the same time each day will help with this process and will let your outdoorsy cat know they are in a safe place. After a successful transition period, be sure to leave food, water, and a safe shelter accessible at all times. Our Outdoorsy Cat Program is a win-win for both the cats and the adopters. If you`re in need of an outdoorsy cat and have a safe place for them to live out their days, send an email to wcras@wilco.org to begin the process.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Outdoorsy chicken sandwich, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
