My story

Meet Cancun! This energetic, fun-loving guy is a year and a half old terrier mix, and he is looking for a human playmate and friend! He's 1 year and 7 months and 57 lbs. Cancun has the most beautiful brown-gray coat that changes color in different positions and light. He gets very excited to ride in the car, often having trouble deciding which window he wants to look out of most at first. He pulls on the leash, but that’s because he’s so excited and ready to explore! A very curious dog, Cancun likes to sniff everything, from people to plants, from roads to recycling. He loves to approach as many people as possible for attention and if you stop petting him, he won’t just walk away. He’ll stand there for as long as possible, patiently waiting for more attention. Cancun is very treat-motivated, but watch your fingers! He’s still learning how to take treats more gently. One thing he’s got down, though: sit. He’ll sit for a treat and to wait for you to collect your things, and he’ll lie down when there’s an opportunity to and he’s gotten his initial energy burst out of the way. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12pm and 4pm any day except Tuesday!
