My story

DOB: 5/3/2019 Citizens, please remain calm. Do not adjust your reality. This is not a drill. Jessica has arrived. She came quietly, transferred from a shelter far away—a place with no more space and too many secrets. Some say the shelter collapsed into itself shortly after she left. Some say it never existed at all. What we do know is this: Jessica is a tabby. She wears the stripes of ancient knowledge and carries on her face the expression of one who has seen the void and found it mildly disappointing. Do not be alarmed by her perpetually displeased countenance. That is merely the shape her sweetness takes. In fact, Jessica enjoys chin scratches, soft beds, and the sound of an honest whisper at 3 a.m. She will not tell you your future, but she might nap on your chest while you try to figure it out yourself. She does not ask for much. Only a home. A warm window ledge. A human who understands that grumpiness can be a kind of poetry. Adopt Jessica. Or don’t.
