My story

Ralphie von Rehau is a handsome, medium-sized 1-2 year old shepherd with a soft, fluffy coat and a sweet, gentle heart. Ralphie is the kind of pup who will melt your heart with his puppy eyes and affectionate nature. He loves being loved on and will gladly soak up all the pets and attention you have to give. He’s treat-motivated, eager to please, and seems to have an easygoing energy. He’s already picking up on basic commands and enjoys bonding with his people. This charming boy walks beautifully on leash—he stays close in a nice heel and happily greets people along the way. He enjoys strolling with other dogs and has great leash manners. In playgroups, Ralphie shows good social skills. He enters comfortably, explores his surroundings, and is curious about everything. He is mostly a mingler and comes up to people for affection. Off-leash, he seems happy to explore—happy to wander and take it all in. Ralphie is good with other dogs, and has passed his cat test. He’s the total package: sweet, smart, and ready to bring love into your life. Ralphie is also so patient, his former owners hadn’t taken care of his flowing coat, he was so good natured during his hour long grooming, always with a smile on his face! Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
