Meet Jalapeno ACCT-A-223024 & Habanero ACCT-A-223025! Jalapeno & Habanero are 5-month-old females who came in as owner surrenders on 6/16 due to the owners health. Behavior Notes: Per staff 7/6: “Habanero & Jalapeno were cuddling when I approached. They had dilated pupils and occasionally hissed at the petting wand but both took turns sniffing it. They both had ears back during the whole interaction.” Per staff 7/6: “These two are definitely bonded. They snuggled up to one another when we opened the kennel door. They took turns sniffing the behavior wand, but kept their ears tightly back.” Per staff 7/4 for Jalapeno: “Unable to give erythromycin and gabapentin PO due to behavior. Kitten will swat and lunge.” Per staff 7/3 for Jalapeno: “Unable to give erythromycin due to behavior. PT was swatting and fractious. Hissing & spitting.” Per staff 7/2: “Did not give erythro … both Jalapeño are Habanero are very spicy and hiss, swat, and try to bite. Gave a dose of gaba in wet food.” Per staff 6/30: “Unable to administer PM meds … both jumping at me while trying to bite and kick the cat glove I was wearing.” Per staff 6/19: “Very fearful under-socialized kittens. Give a small hiss before resorting to lunging and biting (at microchip scanner) when trying to scan. Had to use shield to scan. Both bit at the scanner but Jalapeno bit the scanner cloth cover and held on for a moment when trying to scan Habanero. Would only recommend to an adopter who is experienced with fearful/fractious cats & no kids. Will need to go very slow with both.” Per staff 6/17: “While putting the cats away one of them got loose and when catching the loose cat bit staff.” Bite Details 6/17: “When transferring from feral den to kennel, Habanero escaped. Bit both hands when staff grabbed Habanero after escaping from kennel.” Per staff 6/16: “Unable to check in due to behavior. Hiding in back of feral den and when you to try remove them, one will dart out and try to run away while the other tried to grab the cat glove and bit it. Scheduled for gabapentin” Jalapeno & Habanero lived with other cats in the home. Medical Notes: On 6/27: Jalapeno was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. Per an intake exam on 6/17: Both Jalapeno & Habanero were found to be in good general health other than dirty ears.
