Our wonderful Ori (Oregano) the orange cat is looking for a new, only-animal home, where he will be beloved by his human or humans. In his ideal home, Ori will be the only animal and lavished with love and lap time by his human(s). He is very gentle and does not scratch or bite (if he gets nervous he’ll just run away). He is not shy when asking for love, climbing into any lap and plopping down even if only half of him fits. He makes happy prickly biscuits like nobody’s business and lets me clip his nails while mid-petting session. His preferred petting place is his neck and head, but he is not picky and even likes belly rubs. He is an excellent work-from-home cat, sleeping on a blanket in your lap and purring. Some things Ori loves include sitting in windowsills, making biscuits on fuzzy blankets, sleeping in the sun, and being around people. When Ori meets new people, he’s a “self-petting model”: he will rub against you and maybe even get in your lap, but gets spooked by stranger hands and loud noises. Once he knows and trusts someone, he stops being shy and starts demanding lots and lots of love! His previous owner said, `Ori started life as a TNRed cat, the only one in the colony mellow enough (or goofy enough) to be trapped twice. He was young and skittish in the summer of 2022. One day he had a foxtail sticking out of his eye. He sat in front of our door waiting. I had never touched him before, but he calmly sat while I pulled it out. It wasn’t long until he was hopping into my lap, and only a few months before he ran inside and fell asleep on our couch.Ori was always a little jumpy and anxious when not purring and making biscuits, but we didn’t realize until recently how much other cats stress him out. Last fall he developed urinary problems. After trying lots of things with vet advice, we separated him from the other cats. Instantly, his anxiety disappeared. Now he’s thriving!`Ori has to remain on urinary food for the rest of his life but doesn’t need any medication. He has no issues with using the litter box appropriately and has no health problems. He would prefer he continue at Associated Veterinary in Walla Walla, as they are trained in Fear Free for cats and Ori trusts them.Ori will come with a big bag of his urinary food, treats, his favorite electronic mat toy, his felt bed, his favorite snake toy, and a water fountain.
