My story

Meet Gus – a gentle soul with a loving heart and a calm spirit, ready to be your quiet companion.Gus is a 9-year-old Dachshund who weighs 11 pounds and brings a sense of peace wherever he goes. With his kind eyes, soft expression, and sweet personality, Gus is the definition of a laid-back best friend. He’s friendly with everyone he meets and has a natural warmth that makes people feel instantly at ease around him. This little guy isn’t in a rush—he takes life at a relaxed pace and enjoys the simple pleasures: a cozy blanket, a soft bed, and gentle company. Gus is perfectly content lounging beside you while you read, work, or watch TV, and he’ll happily accept affection without ever demanding it. His calm and steady presence makes him an ideal match for a quiet home looking for a low-key, loving companion.Despite his mellow nature, Gus still enjoys short strolls and time spent with his people. He may be a senior, but he has plenty of love left to give and is hoping to find a family who appreciates the beauty of a calm, devoted dog by their side.***Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Gus, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
