My story

Meet Gorgeous Goldie Goldie is as stunning as her name suggests—soft, golden fur, wide soulful eyes, and a quiet presence that draws you in. But behind that beauty is a survivor’s story. At 3 years old, Goldie lost the only home she had ever known when her elderly guardian was placed in a nursing home. She was given to a neighbor, but instead of finding comfort, she was kept alone in a bathroom. When she was eventually surrendered to a shelter, her behavior—understandably stressed and defensive—put her at risk of euthanasia. It didn’t feel fair. So we brought her into rescue. Since then, Goldie has been slowly learning that the world doesn’t have to be scary. She’s still figuring out how to trust, how to relax, and how to accept love without fear. She enjoys quiet company and will sometimes seek gentle affection, but she also needs space—and she’ll let you know when she’s had enough. She may swat or nip when overstimulated, not out of malice, but out of self-protection. We believe Goldie was separated from her mother and littermates too early, which can impact social development. She missed the window where cats learn boundaries and play nicely. Now, she needs a calm, cat-experienced home—no young kids, no chaos, just people who respect her pace and want to give her a second chance without expecting her to become someone she’s not. Goldie may never be a lap cat. But she is beautiful. She is worthy.
