My story

With a name like Nella Wafer, it’s a natural distinction to get the impression that she is sweeter than a cookie. That’s because she is! She is so incredibly affectionate and just loves to be around people. In her video you’ll see her meeting a stranger for the very first time and she was instantly making an everlasting impression. Oh and let’s not forget about those ears! Aren’t they the best floppy doppie ears you’ve ever seen?! We sure do love them! Nella Wafer is a fun, medium energy, dog friendly, smart pants, affectionate girly that is as sweet as can be. Watch her video and fall in love with her: https://youtu.be/2Rzge7-jtF0?si=CES3scGIR5C2K16S Nella Wafer is a pittie mix approximately 2 years old and currently weighs 50 lbs. Don’t let her pics fool you, she’s more on the lean/petite side of 50lbs. Some would say she could even fall into the ittie bittie pittie category. Nella is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it’s always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. Nella is the girl who knows all the party tricks and gives the impression that she’s a quick learner too with how much she already knows. She knows how to sit, shake, crawl, down, walks well on a leash, and listens when she is called. She also has shown us that she is crate trained and potty trained as well. Nella is very people oriented, eager to please, and loves a good tasty treat. All the fundamentals needs to help make any additional training with her you want to do that much more enjoyable for you both. She really impressed me by how quickly she responded to every command I gave her too. The way she is so people oriented and attentive to you when you're with her, is probably one of my favorite things about Nella. All she wants to do is make you happy and put a smile on your face. If you watched her video, then you know exactly what I'm talking about. Now just imagine what that feeling is like when she is actually with you! Another thing I think is a super cute thing about Nella is the way she will gently give you her paw when she wants affection or if you stop. Almost like she's saying, "hey friend, just 5 more minutes please." It's very sweet. She is dog friendly and has done great with all of the dogs we have introduced her to. She loves to romp around in the yard with the other dogs, playing chase and splashing about in rain puddles. For the most part, Nella is either enjoying the sunshine and fresh air while the other pups around her are playing, she's off exploring, or she's getting loved on by her people. She will also give a subtle correction to a dog if she's not up for play in that moment or if the play was getting a little too rough. Like how an older sister would do with her little brother, a teaching moment. In a home, she will do best with a medium energy male that enjoys those relaxing moments together, will be up for a game of chase every now and then, and will also be mindful of Nella's boundaries when she's ready to relax. If you don't have other dogs, that's fine too! She does not need the company of other dogs to help her feel comfortable and open up nor does she need another dog to fulfill her energy needs. She is a confident love bug all on her own and she will be ready for couch snuggles after a leisurely walk in the park. No kitties for Nella wafer too please, she is a little too interested in our house cat Biggie. Nella has the type of energy that is perfectly in the middle. Not too high and not too low. She can match whatever energy you need her to. Want to snuggle all day? Sign Nella up. Want to take a walk around the neighborhood or go exploring the trails? Nella is already at the door with her leash on. She would also thrive in a home with a backyard where she can stretch her legs, soak in the sun, and porch sit with you during those nice summer evenings. We haven’t seen Nella with kids just yet and we can certainly test that for you. Based off what we have seen so far, we believe she would make a great family dog for kids 7+. We are willing to test Nella Wafer with anything you need us to in order to ensure it’s a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. Adoption application: https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/683f08d5d98c3b604109b3e6 We facilitate adoptions across the US through our own internal transport to ensure the quality of care. We travel to WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT and Canada (Canadian adopters will need to pick up in Bellingham, WA  or Brattleboro, VT for the eastern Canadian border)! Our pups travel in comfort with 24/7 care on our USDA licensed vehicles, including buses and cargo vans. You can join along on our private Facebook event page to follow their adventure, connecting you with other adopters and providing updates throughout their transport journey! You will get to meet your new pup over a video call before signing paperwork, creating a fun and personalized adoption experience!  The adoption fee is $900 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectible, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship!  We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.  Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!  Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.  The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family  Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions  70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer  Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission! Follow our rescue journey and connect with us on our website and social media platforms. Together, we can make a difference, one adoption at a time. https://www.threelittlepittiesrescue.org/ https://www.facebook.com/threelittlepittiesrescue https://www.instagram.com/threelittlepittiesrescue Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life?
