Animal Profile: Meet Ginger! In late April, we were contacted about a mama Shepherd who had just given birth to 10 tiny puppies in a rural Texas shelter. Unfortunately 2 did not make it. This sweet family was out of time and facing euthanasia. A concrete shelter floor is no place to raise babies. Thankfully, our incredible rescue partner Saving Shelter Strays stepped in and gave them the second chance they so desperately needed. They've spent the past few weeks in a loving TX foster home and are healthy and thriving. They are ready for their bus ride to WA! Foster Update: Ginger is a happy, smart, friendly, and brave little girl. She loves toys, play, and cavorting outside, but also cuddling on the couch. She arrived in our home, which includes nine much larger dogs and three cats, with zero fear and immediately ready to play and make friends with everyone. If no one wants to play with her, she'll find toys or sticks and throw them for herself. Food-oriented and smart, Ginger should be easy to train. She already knows her name and comes when called, is doing excellent with potty training and crate training, and settles down to nap nicely in my home office while I work. We expect Ginger to be an energetic girl who needs plenty of exercise and play time, and who will do well with activities that challenge her brain. Ginger would enjoy a fenced yard where she can romp, other pets to play with, and people of her own to love and snuggle. Due to breed and potential size we are looking for a home with a securely fenced yard, breed experience a plus. We are not considering apartments at this time. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575, which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchip, negative heartworm test if over 6 months, and health certificate.
