If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail any questions to: lauren.baird.htar@gmail.com PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ LOCATION: Adoption Center ADOPTION COORDINATOR: lauren.baird.htar@gmail.com ADOPTION FEE: ADOPTION FEE: $475 which INCLUDES spay/neuter and microchip. **Ask me about our many adoption benefits that include free exams, pet insurance, training and other discounts! ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 45 lbs KNOWN WITH DOGS: Good with other dogs KNOWN WITH CATS: We don't know how he does with cats. We can find out if needed. KNOWN WITH KIDS: Given his tendency to jump and no concept of his size, children older than 8 are recommended. KNOWN CUES: working on basic manners such as "sit", "leave it", "off", and "no" as well as manners like not jumping up on people or counter surfing. He has made significant progress on both commands and manners in the 1 1/2 weeks in a foster home. KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING &/OR CRATING: Fraser is crate trained. He will go into his crate on his own for a little nap and he sleeps overnight in his crate. He can be quite vocal (barking and whining) for a few minutes when put into his crate. But he settles in within 3-5 minutes. He has been left during the day in the crate for 5 hours with no problems. KNOWN LIKES: enjoys playing with toys, chewing on hard bones, and getting treats on a lick mat or frozen in a Kong or Toppl. He is highly food motivated which is helpful with training; however he can still get a bit excited and forget to keep all four paws on the ground. KNOWN DISLIKES: We haven't discovered dislikes yet. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Fraser is coming to HT from a rural shelter where he was found as a stray. It has been great to see Fraser's personality emerge. He is like a lanky, awkward teenager, all limbs and doesn't know his own strength or size. In fact, he believes he is a lap dog and will try (and often succeed if not discouraged) to sit on your lap. He loves human attention and will come for pets. Fraser enjoys being outside either in the backyard or on walks. He is good on the leash and doesn't bark or lunge at other dogs or people. He just observes them curiously. He is a little skittish when cars drive by, but this will likely improve with more exposure. Fraser has no fear of the vacuum cleaner or thunder. He has had no exposure in his foster home to cats or children. Lastly, Fraser would do best in a single family home (no adjoining walls like an apartment or townhouse) due to his tendency to bark and whine when first crated.
