My story

Lacey is a 3-year-old Pitbull mix who came to us after being rescued from the streets of Texas, where stray dogs often roam in heartbreaking numbers. She was part of a pair—inseparable with her male companion—until he passed away. It was only after that heartbreaking loss that rescuers were finally able to gain Lacey’s trust and bring her to safety. One of our incredible volunteers drove through the night to bring her to us, and from the moment she arrived, we knew she was something special. Lacey has the gentlest eyes and a soft, wiggly body that speaks volumes of her kind spirit. She carries a quiet sweetness that instantly melts hearts. When Lacey first arrived, we learned she was battling heartworm. She faced the long, difficult treatment with so much resilience—and we are overjoyed to share that she has officially completed her treatment and all of her activity restrictions have been lifted! Lacey is doing wonderfully and is finally free to run, play, and fully enjoy life as a healthy young dog. As part of her next chapter, Lacey will soon be headed to a professional board and train program, where she’ll get a head start on her manners and basic obedience. She’s already such a loving, joyful soul, and this training will help her thrive even more in a forever home. Lacey’s journey is one of trust, healing, and love—and now she’s finally ready to find her family.
