My story

TO LOVE AND BE LOVED  DOB 1/1/24, weight 13 pounds Hey there, everyone! I’m Koko, a happy, affectionate, lively, and outgoing black/ gold/ silver Shih Tzu mix fella who ALWAYS adores being with my hoomans of all ages – even strangers. Since I love life, I put everyone who comes in contact with my sunny disposition in a good mood. Love bug, comfort dog, clown – these are all descriptions of Shih Tzus like me. Since we were bred to spend most of our day inside royal Chinese palaces, we Shih Tzus make a great pet if you live in an apartment or lack a big backyard because we require minimal exercise. Another perk about us is that we’re not very noisy. In fact, we sleep a good bit of the day, only to wake up and exhibit an extraordinarily adorable display of the “zoomies.” Who on earth could resist giving us the attention we so charmingly demand? I’m sure that you’re curious how a 13-pound bundle of cuteness like me could possibly need a new home. Well, my canine momma was owned by a lady who didn’t spay her, so I’m the result of “backyard breeding.” Momma’s owner gave me to her friend, who never took me to the vet for neutering or vaccines because she couldn’t afford it. So I was surrendered to HOPE through no fault of my own, and Foster Mom has whispered in my floppy ear that she’ll find me a much better forever family. I've adjusted well to my foster home, where I’m very loving to adults as well as kids, enjoy chasing the kitties, and carefully discriminate which of the small resident dogs I want to be my buddies. Now I’m ready to bring my friendly companionship, cheerful mood, and boundless love to grace my new home. Could that be with you?
