My story

Smokey8 months old35 lbsHeeler mixMale (neuter date set) Smokey is a gentle, submissive little guy (only 35 lbs!) with a heart of gold. This beautiful brindle pup is shy of new experiences, new people, sudden noises and movements.   The world seems really big & new to him after growing up in the shelter. He is seeking a patient adopter who can envision his potential and is prepared to work with him! It is bound to be a rewarding experience- he bonds quickly with his favorite humans and is an affectionate little guy who gives the best cuddles and kisses. He has come so far already, and is a favorite in his foster home.  Smokey:-Loves other dogs-Is respectful of cats (he'd like to be buddies but if they say no, he will respect that)-Is housetrained  Smokey finds that going new places can be scary, and he isn't sure how to act on a leash. He likes to carry around an "emotional support" item- a stuffed animal or favorite bone. He will even take it outside with him.  Smokey is not a fan of being alone, or of the crate (fortunately, he doesn't get into stuff he shouldn't!). He does sleep in a crate fine overnight, in his foster's bedroom. When he starts to warm up, he has bursts of energy and enjoys a few laps around the yard and a game of fetch. He is generally a low- key guy and spends a lot of the day bumming around the house, chewing bones, and snuggling with available humans.  Smokey depends heavily on another confident dog to show him the ropes. Right now, to give him the best chance of thriving, his ideal home would have another dog, a fenced yard, and adopter/s that are home a lot.
