My story

Approximate Age: 2 years Approximate Weight: 50 lbs Meet Klaus! Klaus is a sweet, curious, quiet boy who was rescued from a large hoarding situation and was living in a broken plastic crate outside. He has made significant progress since then. He takes treats gently, keeps a clean crate, and has learned to walk on a leash. Once he gets to know you he likes to give kisses, go for short walks, rides well in the car, and absolutely looves a good butt scratch. He loves to jump on the couch to be with you and is very affectionate. He still can get scared at times but would do well in a patient calm household environment. He still needs training and more exposure to learn that bathtime is not a bad thing. He has a unique gait likely due to his previous living circumstances but does enjoy walks. He is a sweetie who will greet his person with all the tail wags and kisses and just wants a best friend to love and trust. Are you the loving patient home he has been waiting for? Note: This dog was rescued from a large-scale hoarding situation where they lived outdoors with minimal human contact, inadequate shelter, and limited access to food and clean water. While they are now safe and beginning to learn what it means to be loved and cared for, they may need time, patience, and gentle guidance to adjust to life in a home. Their resilience is incredible, and with the right support, they have the potential to thrive. Requirements And Donations - Required Adoption Day Items: A martingale collar and a non-retractable leash (available for purchase at ODHS). - Adoption Donations: Puppies (under 1 year): $375; Adults: $275; Seniors (age-dependent): $175; Select dogs: $500. We accept cash, debit, and credit cards. - Adoption Radius: Within 350 miles of Fredericksburg, VA. A $50 out-of-state fee applies. - Breed Identification: Dogs are listed as "Mixed Breed" unless formal documentation is available.
